Energy Conservation Week

National Energy Conservation Week aims to generate awareness among the masses in India about the importance of saving energy.  The main objective of the day is to reduce the use of energy and to encourage people to use it efficiently. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency – BEE, has been leading the celebrations of National Energy Conservation Day annually on December 14 since 1991. A constitutional body that falls under the Government of India, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency assists in the development and implementation of strategies and policies to reduce excessive consumption of energy. The committee also executed ‘The Energy Conservation Act’ in 2001.

As part of the activity awareness campaign, rally are conducted by the Electricity board along with the local support team. Even awards are distributed annually on this day in 56 sub-sectors of the country to recognize achievements in energy efficiency. 

 This year to mark the importance of Energy Conservation Elumalai Polytechnic College along with the Electricity Board Villupuram has conducted awareness to use LED bulbs to save electricity. Elumalai Polytechnic College Electrical and Electronics Engineering department students along with the other department students have gone for rally in the main places of Villupuram to create the awareness of conservation of Electricity. Elumalai Polytechnic College has come forward to issue the LED bulbs in a subsidized prize and to make public save and use electricity in an effective manner.  

On 20-12-22 a programme was conducted by the Electricity Board and as a part of our Polytechnic Social activity the Principal of Elumalai Polytechnic  College Dr J.Amos Robert Jeyachandran addressed the gathering and shared his views on Electricity Conservation and the role of the individual. In connection with this Electricity conservation week the Electrical students and faculty has laid stalls in public places to issue LED Bulbs with one plus one offer.LED lights are much more eco-friendly, and are up to 80% more efficient than fluorescent and incandescent lights”. So to make use of LED bulbs and to conserve energy this initiative will be an eye opening to the people in the society.
